Hollywood boys take different approaches to MTV wins

It was a night ruled by leading men as Hollywood's A-list turned out to help fete the winners at this year's MTV Movie Awards in California. And as Johnny Depp, Will Smith and Adam Sandler were called to the stage to collect their prizes, each took a very different approach to receiving the honour.
As screams of excitment rang out from the audience, Johnny took to the podium to proclaim self-deprecatingly he had no idea how he scooped the award for best comic performance in Pirates Of The Caribbean: At World's End. "You can ask anyone. I'm not a funny person," he insisted, eyes lowered to the floor.
And he wasn't absent from the stage long, having beaten Angelina Jolie, Denzel Washington, and Spanish actor Javier Bardem in the best villain category for his turn as a murderous barber in Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber Of Fleet Street.
Will Smith, on the other hand, was in reflective mode after scoring best male performance for his apocalyptic thriller I Am Legend. "I was sitting there with my little man," he said - referring to son Jaden, who accompanied him onstage - "and I remembered that I was on this stage in 1988. And to be here today in 2008, I just really want to say thank you guys. I haven't always made great movies, but I've been trying real hard."
Dispensing with speeches altogether as he picked up a career award was funnyman Adam Sandler, who had trophy presenter Tom Cruise jokingly kneeling at his feet. The Mr Deeds star engaged in a tongue-in-cheek display of ego by picked up a guitar to perform a rendition of Carly Simon's Bond theme tune Nobody Does It Better. As a montage of his movie clips played in the background the comic talent happily substituted the wrods: "Nobody does it quite the way I do, Sandman you're the best!".
Dubbing his over-the-top homage to himself "the most arrogant thing I've ever done" he earned huge laughs from the crowd.
Other winners at the ceremony, attended by a host of glamorous stars, including Sex And The City actress Sarah Jessica Parker, Oscar winner Charlize Theron and newly-single Liv Tyler, were Canadian Juno star Ellen Page and the movie Transformers.

Breaking news just in, Agyness Deyn is to release a single.
Yes you read that correctly. According to music industry bible The NME our Aggy is set to release her first single in June. The track, entitled 'Who', is a collaboration between the supermodel and the New York band Five O'Clock Heroes.
Agyness not only sings on the single but will also be starring in the video, released on the 23rd June.
We wonder if she's been taking singing lessons from her rocker boyfriend, Josh Hubbard who is guitarist for The Paddingtons?

When you’re Victoria Beckham and trying to carve out a career in fashion it doesn’t hurt having Hollywood’s biggest player as one of your pals. And, although it’s not exactly designing your own couture line, helping create costume on Tom Cruise’s new film is not to be sniffed at. Yes. Tom Cruise has requested the sartorial nous of Posh on his new movie, The Hardy Men, the film version of The Hardy Boys novels. Apparently Tom approached Posh at her birthday bash in LA this week and if it works out she will get a film credit. It sounds like a dream come true for Posh, who’s made no secret of her desire to be taken seriously in the fashion world.

The world of tennis isn’t where we normally look to find future style icons – Steffi Graf? The Williams sisters? But something is going on in the world of rackets, balls and Robinson’s juice drinks. Russian tennis ace Maria Sharapova is emerging as something of a style pretender. Last week she celebrated her 21st birthday and part of her coming of age appears to be a serious coming of style. Dressed in a number of ‘in the know’ outfits, Anne Demeulemeester, Lanvin and Dolce and Gabbana, Maria has been causing a stir among the fashion press. Even US Vogue’s not easily impressed Anna Wintour turned up to her birthday bash at The Four Seasons hotel in Manhattan. Of course her ability to pull off a chi chi outfit is helped by a toned tennis body and legs almost as high as NY’s skyscrapers. With all the tennis Grand Slam’s coming up and their incumbent parties, we look forward to seeing what Miss Sharapova pulls out of her fashion bag.
